Resolution Recap: Writing Memoir Now and Forever

NEWS YEAR RESOLUTIONS are crumbling fast. I can almost hear the candy wrappers from here, can’t you? There are some resolutions that we’re not going to break, right? Those having to do with writing memoir now, right? Hello? What were those again?

Here they are.

1. No more Writing Exercises.

Or Prompts. This year you are going to write with intent.

2. Be hospitable.

Treat your talents and time like they are house guests that you’d like to stick around.

3. Ask Amy.

Take advice from the Queen of the advice columnists.

4. Use the algorithm.

Writing is just math.

5. Use the calendar.

Everyone needs a deadline. Everyone has a calendar. Mate these ideas, and watch your offspring thrive.

And that’s it. It’s two weeks since the new year. While you might not yet have made it to the gym, I know you can get to the desk.
