JOANNA PENN HELPS writers get to their work. Me, too. And so we got together via Skype the other day – she in London, me in upstate, New York – and talked about how to write memoir. Want to watch and learn? You may.
Joanna, the brains behind The Creative Penn, is a master at getting people to work.
I’m no slouch at it, either, and together we had a rip roaring time. If you do not know Joanna’s work, you should. For three years running, she has been voted one of the top ten bloggers for writers. Recently added to the accolades for her fine work is the distinction of being placed in the top ten bloggers for self-publishers.
Joanna graciously turned our oh-so-animated talk into a YouTube video that is there for you to watch. Out soon will be her podcast of our talk. I am exceedingly grateful.
Listen. Watch. Learn. And write on.

Marion,
So good to see and hear you in the interview with Joanna Penn. I found myself scribbling notes throughout. For me personally, your book will always be evergreen. I understand things more clearly every time I read it.
P.S. I discovered Joanna’s website and blog a few months ago and have gathered some very helpful information from her.
Delighted we were able to view the talk.
Best,
Judith

Marion,
I bought your Memoir book a year or two back. This interview really reinforced the points I love in your approach to writing. Thanks for the flashback.
Please do more video interviews, it’s nice to see your enthusiasm pop out.

Hi, Rick:
How kind of you.
I am delighted at your response, and thank you for it.
I hope to do just that in the near future. Please come back soon for more.

Marion, you are a blessing. I enjoy seeing you “in person.” I’ve felt for years that I have many stories wanting to get out, but overwhelmed and confused. Learning from you is refreshing and encouraging. I’ve never been an argumentative person, in fact I feel incapable of arguing, but today I learned when I have a story to tell I am arguing something and that feels good.
Thank you for sharing your passion,
Keri

Hi, Keri:
How incredibly kind of you. Thank you.
I am delighted that I have brought you around to being argumentative. Ha!
Honestly, get that argument right and you’ve got yourself a piece of memoir.
You’re right — it feels good.
Go get ’em.
And come back soon.
